November 5, 2025 – The much-anticipated Global Injection Molding Expo (GIME) 2025 officially opened its doors today at the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center, drawing over 800 exhibitors from 35 countries and expected to attract more than 50,000 professional visitors over its four-day run. As one of the world’s top events for the injection molding industry, this year’s expo centers on the theme "Innovate for Sustainability: Shaping the Future of Molding".
A highlight of the expo is the "Smart Molding Zone", where leading manufacturers unveiled their latest technological breakthroughs. Japan’s Fanuc showcased its new collaborative robot-integrated injection molding machine, which features AI-driven quality inspection and can reduce labor costs by 40%. Meanwhile, China’s Haitian International launched a hybrid injection molding system that cuts energy consumption by 28% compared to traditional models, aligning with the global push for carbon neutrality.
The "Sustainable Materials Pavilion" also garnered significant attention, with suppliers presenting eco-friendly solutions for the industry. Netherlands-based Avantium displayed its bio-based PEF (polyethylene furanoate) resin, a viable alternative to petroleum-based plastics that is fully recyclable. "This expo provides the perfect platform to connect with potential partners and demonstrate how sustainable materials can revolutionize injection molding," said Emma van der Sar, Avantium’s sales director.
Beyond product displays, the expo hosts a series of high-level forums and workshops. Industry experts from companies like BASF and Siemens discussed topics such as circular economy practices in molding, digital twins for production optimization, and the impact of 3D printing on traditional injection molding processes. These sessions aim to foster knowledge sharing and drive collaborative innovation across the sector.
Early feedback from exhibitors and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. "GIME 2025 has exceeded our expectations in terms of scale and quality of attendees," noted Li Wei, sales manager at Guangdong Yizumi Precision Machinery. "We’ve already held productive talks with over 20 potential clients from Europe and Southeast Asia, which we believe will lead to long-term partnerships."
With the injection molding industry playing a critical role in sectors like automotive, healthcare, and packaging, GIME 2025 is set to serve as a key catalyst for global industry growth, accelerating the adoption of green technologies and strengthening international cooperation.
